The situation in Gaza and the West Bank is a continued worry. “We call on Israel to end the occupation closure policies in the West Bank and in the Gaza Strip, which continues to restrict the people’s freedom of movement and a social and economic activities including reconstruction the Gaza Strip, as pledged by the International community in Sharam Al-Sheikh in March of this year.

We call on Israel to stop settlement construction in the West Bank as well as in East of Jerusalem in contradiction to international law as confirmed by the international court of justice, and to dismantle the settlement outposts.

“We call on Israel to stop the construction of the separation barrier, a painful reminder of absence of trust, communication and cooperation, which continues to be erected in the West Bank and East of Jerusalem, in contradiction to International Law, as confirmed by the International Court of Justice”. These were the words of Minister Dr. Friedrich Stift, head of the Department for Near and Middle East at the Foreign Ministry of Austria, during the event of the “Annual Observance of the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People” which was held at the United Nations in Vienna.
