Austrian President Offers to Host a Conference of Civil Society Partners from Syria

Throughout the halls of the Forum, high-level conversations are taking place between these leaders to address current global issues such as Syria, Mali, Israel-Palestine, and the future of sustainable development.
During the opening session of the UNAOC, which was held at Hofburg Festsaal in Vienna, President Fischer emphasized Austria’s role as a possible model of a pluralistic state: “With a long history of diversity in Austria we have pluralism in languages, religions and ethnicities.” According to Fischer, Austria has a stable society united with a strong economy and a functioning rule of law.
