Caracas, 05 Mar. AVN.- Executive Vice President of the Republic, Nicolas Maduro, said Tuesday he has "no doubt" that "the historical enemies of the country sought for a weak spot to harm the health" of President Hugo Chavez.
He noted that in due time, a scientific commission will be formed to certify whether the Venezuelan president was attacked with the illness he has been suffering for almost two years and due to which Chavez underwent his latest surgery in Havana Dec. 11.
"We have no doubt the right time in history will come to form a scientific committee (to prove) that commander Chavez was attacked with this disease," Maduro said during a meeting with political and military top officials of the Bolivarian Revolution, held at Miraflores Palace, seat of government in Caracas.
He noted that there are already many clues on this matter but given its seriousness, "it will have to be investigated by a special committee of scientists."
Maduro recalled that the president publicly expressed his view in this regard and there have been several similar cases in history.
"The most recent is that of Yasser Arafat, leader of the Palestinian people. Declassified documents and statements of people involved proved that he was inoculated with a disease, although, after the Palestinian people and major world leaders denounced this, Western media power immediately came to mock and distort that complaint," said Maduro.
