Israeli Regime Revives the Apartheid Mentality
“The emphasis of the Israeli regime on the existence of a Jewish state is the re-emergence of an apartheid mentality which was finally removed after years of struggle and international condemnation. The negative reaction of some western allies of the Zionist regime, specifically the United States, to the issuance of the final verdict by Judge Goldstone is a clear indication of their ill and unfair attitude and conduct vis-à-vis the crime against humanity and war crime committed by the Zionist regime in Gaza, condemned by the international community”, said Ambassador Ali Asghar Soltanieh, representative of the Islamic Republic of Iran at the United Nations Seminar on Assistance to the Palestinian people held on March 24-26 in Vienna.
Ambassador Soltanieh said at the beginning of his speech
In the Name of God. May I take this opportunity to express my delegation’s appreciation to the Chairman and members of the Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People for their tireless efforts to address the torment and onerous circumstances of the people of Palestine. Mr. Chairman, The continuous Middle East crisis is originating from inattention and silence of the International Community to the issue of occupation of the Palestinian territories, ignorance of basic human rights of the people of this territory and continuous violation of internationally recognized norms and principles by the Zionism regime.
The Israeli policy and conduct committing crimes such as massacre of thousands of innocent Palestinian children and women, planned assassination, extensive detentions, siege of Palestinian regions, illegal settlement, destruction of houses and infrastructures, and construction of the apartheid wall are obvious examples of state-terrorism and racism, which is the foundation of Zionism mentality, must be categorically condemned. As on every other single day in the past 6 decades, the period under review has been witness to unabated bloody campaign and racist and aggressive policies and practices by the Israeli regime. The status quo cannot sustain. The defenseless Palestinians continue to be subject to some of the most vicious measures employed and abhorrent war crimes perpetrated by Israelis as a result of which dozens more Palestinian civilians have been killed and injured while more and more are rendered displaced. The International Community is responsible to take effective measures for saving the lives of the Palestinian people and fulfillment of their inalienable right.
Mr. Chairman, The problem of the Middle East is not shortage of peace plans but the main problem is shortage of correct awareness of the main root cause of the crisis and shortage of paying due attention to the lack of compliance of Israel with any international commitment. The occupying regime has indicated frequently that it would not have the necessary willingness for paying any costs for realization of peace and stability in the region. The latest decision of the Zionism regime to build new houses in the East Beit Al Moghadas (East Jerusalem) indicated once again that the regime neither respects international law nor heeds even to the advice of its alliance and supporters. The measures taken by the Zionism regime for continuous expansion and occupation of Palestinian territory and expelling its genuine inhabitants from their homeland is an obvious example of racism and must be strictly condemned and prevented.
Mr. Chairman, The Zionism regime has always tried to introduce external factors and regional countries as barriers towards peace and stability in the region. As a matter of fact, the regime resorts to this policy so as to export its crisis abroad. Some western countries, the United States in particular, have merely highlighted the security of the Zionist regime at the cost of insecurity of Palestinians and deprivation of benefiting minimum standard of peaceful living. They should note that this is a source of instability, insecurity and confrontation in the Middle East. The emphasis of the Israeli regime on the existence of a Jewish state is as re-emergence of an apartheid mentality which was finally removed after years of struggle and international condemnation.
The Islamic Republic of Iran is demanding an end to occupation of all Palestinian and other occupied territories. She believes that resolutions and decisions of the international organizations can not fully restore all rights of the Palestinian people since the occupier regime of Al-Qods does not even attach any importance to this least requirement of the international organizations and does not feel any commitment for implementing such resolutions and decisions. Its allies have not only refrained from criticizing the regime but have endorsed and encouraged the defiance. The negative reaction of some western allies of the Zionist regime, specifically the United States, to the issuance of the final verdict by Judge Goldstone is a clear indication of their ill and unfair attitude and conduct vis-à-vis the crime against humanity and war crime committed by the Zionist regime in Gaza, condemned by the international community. As a consequence, in spite of passing more than one year since the Zionist regime’s brutal attack in Gaza, over a million innocent Palestinians live in Gaza, a large isolated prison, in the worst situation. Who is fully responsible for the status quo?
The recent statement of the Secretary of State of the United States on 22 March 2010 in AIPAC is another dark record of blind support of the Zionist regime, at any price, by the United States. Let me quote parts of her declared policy: ”Let me assure you, as I have assured you on previous occasions with large group like this and small intimate settings, for President Obama and for me, and for this entire Administration, our commitment to Israel’s security and Israel’s future is rock solid, unwavering, enduring, and forever.” She also said: “…we cannot ignore the long-term trends that result from the Israeli occupation … inexorable mathematics of democracy – of demography are the hour at which Israelis may have to choose between preserving their democracy and staying true to their dream of a Jewish homeland”.
This proves our assertion that the United States is supporting the inhumane and racism mentality of Zionism at any price. Mr. Chairman, The Iranian democratic plan for solving the issue of Palestine includes the return of all Palestinian refugees to their own land in occupied Palestine, holding a democratic referendum with participation of the legitimate people of Palestine composed of Muslims, Christians, Jews for taking decision on the future regime of the state, the establishment of a political regime and taking decision about non-genuine inhabitants of Palestine by a political regime elected by majority is the only sustainable solution. On behalf of the Islamic Republic of Iran I declare her readiness to participate in a collective cooperation to heal the acute wounds of over 60 years and assist the noble Palestinian people to regain and exercise their inalienable right for a dignified and prosperous life in their homeland. Thank you for your attention.
