And he renders the reason why the Son of God did these things, saying, "For to this end Christ both lived, and died, and revived, that He might rule over the living and the dead." And again, writing to the Corinthians, he declares, "But we preach Christ Jesus crucified; "and adds, "The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? " - St. Irenaeus, Against Heresies, Book III, Chapter XVIII, Section 2.

Matthew 27:45 Now from the sixth hour, there was darkness over all the earth, until the ninth hour.

Origen tell us this darkness was only in Palestine, and the neighbouring countries: for as to the words, over the whole earth, or over the whole land, we find one kingdom or empire, by a common way of speaking, called the whole earth, or the whole world. As to the cause of the obscuration of the sun; and secondly, as to the extent of its darkness. Origen tells us that the darkness was partial, and confined to Judea and the neighbouring countries, as the darkness of Egypt was only perceived in that country, and not in Gessen, where the children of Israel were. Saint Jerome tells us that the obscurity was caused by the rays of the sun being suddenly withdrawn by divine power, as was the case in Egypt. The darkness in Egypt during the Passover of Moses was due to God's protection withdrawn from that land at that time. The darkness when Christ was Crucified for us is the judgement of God upon His Son Jesus Christ, in our place. For Jesus Christ knew NO sin. He never sinned, nor could He ever.

The meaning of the Pasch of Christians.

The Book of Wisdom, Chapter 17, describes the devils and demons thrown back upon the Egyptians when the Israelites under Moses were brought out of Egypt by God for God’s purposes (to prepare a place for the Crucifixion of Our Lord for the Redemption of the whole world of those who are saved). In the same way the same false gods and goddesses that the Egyptians served and which in so doing were the reason the Egyptians sacrificed their sons and daughters to the devils and demons behind the false gods/goddesses were the spirits that killed the Egyptian children that perished when the Israelites were brought out of Egypt. God does not murder children, period. The angel of death which destroyed in Egypt was one of the fallen spirits. God did not cause any of the fallen spirits to hurt anyone. God allowed the fallen spirits to do what it is their nature do to when He brought the Israelites out of the gates of hell which was Egypt. The children below the age of reason that died went to be with God for eternity, they will be resurrected with the just at the Second Coming of Christ. This principle of God allowing the innocent to be afflicted along with guilty finds its ultimate fulfillment in Christ’s singular and only salvific Kenosis. Jesus Christ committed no sin, not ever nor could He, and was and is and only could be utterly and absolutely and completely innocent of any and all wrongdoing and sin by His very nature as the Holy and True God. The guiltless sacrificed by His own will for the guilty. Even when the innocent are afflicted by the actions and evils instigated by the fallen spirits in the world, the innocent are not possessed by those fallen spirits. The principle of all being afflicted by the evil set loose upon the world for its unrepentant sin will occur when the universal plagues are let loose upon the world. See Apocalypse 16 –

The principle of our always, for our part, protecting children is given us by Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ in the Gospel of Matthew, Chapter 18

1 At *that hour the disciples came to Jesus, saying: Who, thinkest thou, is the greater in the kingdom of heaven?

2 *And Jesus calling unto him a little child, set him in the midst of them,

3 And said: Amen I say unto you, *unless you be converted, and become as little children, you shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.

4 Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, he is the greater in the kingdom of heaven.

5 And he that shall receive one such little child in my name, receiveth me.

10 Take heed that you despise not one of these little ones: for I say to you, *that their angels in heaven always see the face of my Father who is in heaven.

The principle of our ONLY worshipping the True God, the Father and the Son Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit is given first in the historical truth of the Garden of Eden when Christ, who is the Tree of Life commands the first man and his wife, Adam and Eve to not have anything to do with the tree of the knowledge of good and evil which is Satan, the first fallen angel, nor with any of the fallen angels with Satan. Assisi of Babylon/Vatican/Rome is absolute and complete violation of that principle and is the Great Apostasy in full blown Satanic evil. Have nothing to do with the Vatican or suffer its eternal damnation in hell with it. The devil and demon worshipping pagans and the perfidious deicidal Jews are not ever any part of the Salvific action of Christ upon Golgotha/Calvary. Individual pagans and Jews if they repent of their not confessing Jesus Christ as the Immortal Son of God become flesh for our sake and sacrificed for our salvation and who confess publicly their sin of devil and demon worshipping and perfidy and deicide and who beg the Lord of all, the Lord God, the Father and the Son Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit for forgiveness of their horrid and abominable sins, can and will be forgiven if they do so now in this life and will enter into the only path of salvation there is as dictated by God Himself. The Church, all the faithful – there is no other meaning acceptable to God for the word Church, is commanded by God to not have anything to do with the Apostasy.

Book of Wisdom, Chapter 17

1 For thy judgments, O Lord, are great, and thy words cannot be expressed: therefore undisciplined souls have erred.

2 For while the wicked thought to be able to have dominion over the holy nation, they themselves being fettered with the bonds of darkness, and a long night, shut up in their houses, lay there exiled from the eternal providence.

3 And while they thought to lie hid in their obscure sins, they were scattered under a dark veil of forgetfulness, being horribly afraid and troubled with exceeding great astonishment.

4 For neither did the den that held them, keep them from fear: for noises coming down troubled them, and sad visions appearing to them, affrighted them.

5 And no power of fire could give them light, neither could the bright flames of the stars enlighten that horrible night.

6 But there appeared to them a sudden fire, very dreadful: and being struck with the fear of that face, which was not seen, they thought the things which they saw to be worse:

10 For whereas wickedness is fearful, it beareth witness of its condemnation: for a troubled conscience always forecasteth grievous things.

11 For fear is nothing else but a yielding up of the succours from thought.

12 And while there is less expectation from within, the greater doth it count the ignorance of that cause which bringeth the torment.

13 But they that during that night, in which nothing could be done, and which came upon them from the lowest and deepest hell, slept the same sleep.

14 Were sometimes molested with the fear of monsters, sometimes fainted away, their soul failing them: for a sudden and unlooked for fear was come upon them.

19 For the whole world was enlightened with a clear light, and none were hindered in their labours.

20 But over them only was spread a heavy night, an image of that darkness which was to come upon them. But they were to themselves more grievous than the darkness.

Palestinian Hunger Striker Released From Zionist Jail

Palestinian administrative detainee Samer Issawi, who had been released previously as part of the “Gilad Shalit” deal and was subsequently re-arrested by the israeli occupation, was released and returned to his house and family at al-Issawiya in occupied East Jerusalem.

The israeli jailing service released prominent Palestinian prisoner Samer Issawi on Monday, after eight month of hunger strike at the Israeli detention, the longest known hunger strike to this date. Issawi led a political campaign against his arrest without trail by the israeli occupation, what they call “administrative detention”.

Issawi was one among the 1,027 prisoners released from israeli prison in the deal of the release of the IDF soldier Gilad Shalit. The israeli government of occupation re-arrested Issawi among other prisoners after months of their release??

Issawi began a hunger strike shortly after his return to prison; he received only liquids fortified with vitamins, which kept him alive. Due to the strike, he lost more than half his weight.

On April, it was reported that Issawi has agreed on a deal brokered by israeli and Palestinian officials to serve eight months for allegedly violating bail conditions for an earlier release, after which he will be freed to his Jerusalem home.

The family of Issawi, his friends, representatives of the Palestinian Prisoner Club and a non-governmental organizations were waiting for his release at the entrance of the israeli jail. Issawi is still sick and unable to eat, he lost more than half of his weight during detention.

Zionists Kill Palestinian With Help of PA

Israeli death squads of the so-called border police operating under cover, reportedly dressing in Palestinian clothes, killed Palestinian Nafie Jamil Al Saadi, 22, in the Jenin refugee camp Wednesday evening and left another seven persons injured in an operation which led to the arrest of dozens of political activists.

The death squad operation was coordinated with the so-called Palestinian Authority (PA) security forces and was directed against some political activists from Islamic Jihad and Hamas, who had been earlier released by the zionist regime.

PA intelligence personnel and militia have arrested several hundred of Hamas, Fatah and Jihad elements in the occupied West Bank in Jenin, Nablus and Hebron during the past days.

In October 25 2013, the Palestinian militia “security forces” raided the house of Sheikh Jamal Abu al-Hayja in search of his son Hamza, 21. The PA militia smashed everything they found at the house of Abu Al Hayja and then they told his wife that her son “Hamza” must turn himself in two days. They threatened her and left.

Sheikh Abu al-Hayja was the leader of a group of fighters in Jenin refugee camp battle in 2002. He lost his arm while defending the Palestinian civilians in Jenin. He was arrested by the Israeli occupation soldiers and sentenced to nine life sentences and an additional 25 years.

He is imprisoned at the Gilboa jail. His son “Abed Al-Salam” is serving seven and a half life sentence and his son “Asim” has been in administrative detention for several years. His wife and daughter were previously jailed, interrogated and tortured and then released by the Israel zionists. His son “Hamza”, who was 11 years in 2002,NOW is “wanted” by both of the israeli occupation and the PA forces.

Today evening, at round 8:30 PM and with full knowledge of the PA, the israeli death squads dressing as Palestinian technicians and operating “undercover” raided Jenin refugee camp in a car with Palestinian license plates and entered the house of the Hamas leader Sheikh Jamal Abu al-Hayja to arrest his son Hamza.

Palestinian youths of the area protested against the filthy coordinated mission between of israeli occupation death squad soldiers and PA “security forces” elements. As usual for such occasions, they hurled insults and threw stones at the zionists death squads.

A detachment of the IDF Artillery Corps was stationed nearby providing additional cover for the death squad unit. When the protests of the Jenin youths stoned the IDF death squad troops, About 25 military vehicles entered the camp and fired live ammunition at Palestinians. The result was that a Palestinian was killed and 7 injured among them three critical injuries.

According Oslo agreement the PA “forces” militia role is to provide cover for the so-called Israeli’s security needs, to fight against the Palestinian resistance and imprison them; to hand the so-called “wanted Palestinians for the occupation, to free the hands of the israeli soldiers whenever they want to arrest Palestinians.

وقعت الجريمة النكراء مساء اليوم الساعة الثامنة والنصف مساءا, عندما نقلت سيارة تحمل لوحة تابعة للمناطق الخاضعة للسلطة الفلسطينية, ومملوكة من قبل أحد أفراد الأمن الفلسطيني, لنظرائهم من أفراد فرقة الموت الإسرائيلية “المستعربين” وهم جنود يتنكرون في لباس فلسطيني مدني, وذلك وفقا لعملية تنسيق “أمني” مسبقة بين الطرفين, إلى منزل الشيخ المعتقل في السجون الإسرائيلية “جمال ابو الهيجا” من أجل إعتقال نجله “حمزة”, 21 عاما, الذي لم تنجح قوات السلطة الفلسطينية في إعتقاله خلال مداهمات متكررة في شهري أكتوبر ونوفمبر, بناء على مطالب إسرائيلية وامريكية

وقد أدى دخول قوات فرقة الموت إلى منزل القيادي “أبو الهيحا” إلى انفجار غضب سكان المخيم, ممن رشقوا قوات المستعربين بالحجارة الأمر الذي أدى إلى تدخل ما يسمى بقوات فيلق المدفعية الإسرائيلية التي كانت تتوقف على مقربة من المكان لتوفير غطاء امني لقوات المستعربين, الذين نقلتهم سيارة السلطة الفلسطينية للمخيم

وذكرت المصادر أن 25 جيبا عسكريا صهيونا إقتحم المخيم فور تصدي الشيان للغزاة المحتلين, وأن قوات الإحتلال فتحت نيران أسلحتها الرشاشة على المواطنين مما أدى إلى إستشهاد الشاب نافع جميل السعدي, وأصابة ثمانية آخرين بينهم ثلاثة وصفت أصاباتهم بالحرجة

فيما إختفت قوات السلطة الفلسطينية من المكان, والتزمت أوكارها التي إعتادت الأختفاء بها كلما دخلت قوات الإحتلال المدن الفلسطينية لتنفيذ المهام القذرة لما يسمى ب “التنسيق الأمني” المنصوص عليها في إتفاقات السلطة الفلسطينية, والتي تقضي بتسليم الفلسطينيين لقوات الأحتلال وتناوب أدوار إعتقالهم وتوفير الحماية لإسرائيل

ومنعت قوات الإحتلال التي دخلت المخيم بحراسة فلسطينية قبل دخول القوات العسكرية الصهيونية سيارات الإسعاف من نقل المصابين للمستشفى, الأمر الذي أدى إلى إستشهاد أحدهم متأثرا بجراحه الخطرة

العملية العسكرية الصهيونية التي ذهب ضحيتها الشاب السعدي وأدت إلى إصابة ثمانية آخرين, تمت بالتنسيق مع قادة الأجهزة الأمنية في السلطة الفلسطينية ممن يديرون ما يسمى ب “مكاتب الإرتباط العسكري” (دي سي أو), وهي مكاتب للتجسس تنتشر في مدن الضفة الغربية, وتعمل لصالح جهاز المخابرات الصهيوني “شاباك”, كانت موجهة ضد عائلة السجين الشيخ “جمال ابو الهيجا”, قائد معركة جنين ضد الغزاة الصهاينة عام 2002, ممن إرتكبوا جرائم إبادة وجرائم حرب وجرائم ضد الإنسانية ضد أهالي جنين, ابادوا خلالها العشرات وردموا المخيم ومنازله على رؤوس الفلسطينيين وهم أحياء يرزقون

وقد فقد “أبو الهيجا” الذي أصبح طفله مطلوبا للسلطة الفلسطينية ذراعه خلال معركة جنين, وحكم عليه بالسجن تسع مؤبدات و25 عاما, فيما يقضي إبنه “عبد السلام” حكما بالسجن مدته سبع مؤبدات ونصف, أما إبنه “عاصم” فهو سجين إداري (أي بدون تهمة) منذ عدة سنوات لدى إسرائيل

كما إعتقلت زوجة ابو الهيجا وابنته وعذبتا في السجون الصهيونية قبل الإفراج عنهما, أما نجله “حمزة” الذي أصبح مطلوبا للسلطة الفلسطينية وإسرائيل, فيبلغ من العمر 21 عاما, وقد كان طقلا في العاشرة من عمره عام 2002, عندما إعتقلت القوات الصهيونية والده وارتكتبت مجزرة جنين في 25 نيسان عام 2002

نقول للسلطة الفلسطينية: بان مشاعر الشعب الفلسطيني ودماؤه ليست رهينة مفاوضات عبثية, وإتفاقات يبرمها رئيس منتهي الولاية منذ عام 2009. وان الدولارات الأمريكية والأوروبية التي تصب في خزينة السلطة لا يمكن لها أن تشتري ذمم جميع الفلسطينيين. ومن حق حمزة أن يناضل بكل الوسائل والطرق من أجل حرية فلسطين وحرية والده, وليس من حق أي كان أن يصادر حق المقاومة المشروعة في القانون الدولي

جدير بالذكر بان المخابرات الفلسطينية وميليشياتها الأمنية قد اعتقلت خلال الأيام الماضية المئات من عناصر حركة حماس وفتح والجهاد الإسلأمي في الضفة الغربية المحتلة, وتحديدا في كل من مدينة جنين, ونابلس والخليل, وذلك إستجابة لمطالب إسرائيلية وأمريكية

Severe Floods Prompt Evacuation of 3,000 Houses in Gaza

ِAl-Mizan for Human Rights - Approximately 3,000 houses in the Gaza Strip have been evacuated due to severe floods caused by torrential rain. The unusually harsh winter storm, called Alexa, has covered the occupied Palestinian territory causing disruption across the region and particularly deteriorated conditions in the Gaza Strip where the humanitarian situation remains dire.

As a result of the storm and further exacerbating the electricity crisis in Gaza, in the five main districts, electricity is being connected for only four hours to each area with a cut then proceeding of 20 hours.

Without infrastructure to manage such severe weather conditions including shelter centers, some schools have been opened to provide cover to people forced to evacuate their homes; however, these schools lack the basic facilities to provide adequate shelter especially under such harsh weather conditions.

The Al Mezan Center for Human Rights pays tribute to the civil defense and rescue teams, municipality workers, and the concerned authorities at UNRWA for their efforts to help the people of Gaza. Al Mezan urges all local and international relief organizations, UN bodies, and International Committee of the Red Cross to promptly provide relief for the families who have been forced to leave their homes under these exceptional conditions.

The Israeli siege imposed on the Gaza Strip and the ensuing humanitarian crisis has been further inflamed under the current weather conditions where the lack of infrastructure made available to the people of Gaza has notably exacerbated critical conditions. Al Mezan therefore continues to reiterate its previous calls on the international community to oblige Israeli authorities to lift the siege imposed on Gaza Strip to allow for appropriate recovery actions and to prevent further deterioration in living conditions.

Catastrophe in Gaza, World Silent and Blind

Darkness, shortage of fuel, flooding, hunger. Two Palestinians were killed and thousands evacuated to shelters while international community is blind and keeps silence like nothing is happening.

During the last two days thousands of Gazans were evacuated from their homes because of the flooding caused by the storm “Alexa” that invaded the Middle East and has covered it with snow, rain and hail.
Chris Gunness, The UNRWA spokesperson, has described the Gaza Strip on Sunday, Dec. 15 2013 as a “disaster area”. He called on the international community to send relief for the Gazans and to lift the Israeli blockade for human reasons.

He said: “large areas near the refugee camp of Jabalia in the northern Gaza Strip have become a “lake of up to two meters depth of sink waters engulfing and surrounding the homes of thousands of people.”

Gaza also lives in continuous darkness due the cut of electricity because of the shortage of fuel. Over the last few years, the Gaza Strip has largely relied on the fuel coming in from Egypt through the cross-border smuggling tunnels under Rafah. Egypt has demolished hundreds of smuggling tunnels earlier this year. The Gaza Strip uses about 120 megawatts of electricity purchased from Israel and about 27 megawatts from Egypt.

According to UNRWA, “Everything stops,” says Daulat. She doesn’t just mean the refrigerator, the washing machine and other devices; this Palestine refugee mother means daily life in her neighbourhood of Shajaiya. “Electricity outages paralyze our entire life,” she explains. Since the Gaza Power Plant stopped operating, on 1 November, she’s had to change her entire routine: “I sleep when the electricity is off, and I wake up when it’s on.”

Power outages are something that Gaza has dealt with for years. Israel’s restrictions on the amount of fuel Gaza could import, together with supply from Egypt not always being reliable, meant regular cuts for homes and businesses, hospitals, schools and even basic infrastructure.

But after several years, the shortages have finally grown so severe that the plant can no longer operate at all. Blackouts now last for an average of 16 hours a day. With the essentials of daily life compressed into only a few hours, it is no wonder that Gaza and its residents – young and old, women, men and children alike – are tense and anxious.

For mothers like Daulat, the loss of power has upended their entire routine. For students like her daughter, 17-year-old Khitam, it means a threat to her future as well. She is in her last year of secondary school. “This is crucial for my future,” Khitam says. “I am afraid of how these outages will affect my studies and my achievement.”

The family can’t afford a generator or an emergency light, so Khitam has no option but to study by the light of candles or mobile phones. But candles have their own risks, Khitam adds. “Once, my mother woke up because she smelled smoke – the candle had fallen down on the mattress.”

They were able to extinguish the fire quickly, but now, Daulat stays up until everyone else has gone to bed, to make sure she blows out the candle. And then, until morning, there is darkness. Khitam explains that getting up at night means stumbling over furniture or running into walls; her brother, afraid of going to the bathroom in the dark, has been wetting the bed.

Former Police Officer Murdered in Bethlehem, EU COPPS Suspect

Former Palestinian Police officer Hasan Mubarak Abu Mahameed, political prisoner in Israel and activist of Fatah, was shot dead by the paramilitary police of the PA in Al-Fureidis (al-Asakira) east of Bethlehem on Monday.

Mr. Abdullah Abu Hadid, a Fatah activist who went to the hospital of Beit Jala to calm the angry Palestinians gathering at the entrance of the hospital storing the body of the victim said: “I knew the young man who was killed well. Mr. Mahameed is a former political prisoner at israeli jails. He spent four years in prisons on charges of belonging to the Fatah movement.”

Mr. Mahameed worked for five years as a PA police officer after he was released from israeli jail. He was forced to resign from his work after his father’s death in a fight with the Al-Wahsh family, a clan that has strong connections with the PA and the Fatah movement.

Several eyewitnesses confirmed that Mr. Mahameed was unarmed at the incident. He was driving his car to pick up his daughter from school because of the severe cold wave. The Palestinian police force, a militia trained by the EU COPPS, intercepted him. He was beaten to the ground where the police shot him. The bullets hit him directly in the back and exited from other parts of his body.

The spokesperson of the Palestinian Police spread lies about the incident as is usual after each crime they perpetrate. He claimed that the forces shot Mahameed after he “escaped during an attempt to arrest him” and that he was wanted since 2005.

The Palestinian paramilitary Police has perpetrated many of murders during supposed attempts to arrest Palestinians.

On June 15 2013, the Palestinian militarized police murdered a Palestinian elderly man, Mr. Sadi Al-Skhel from Nablus.
On May 8, 2013, Khaleda Tayseer Quazbeh, 30, a mother of 13 children from Al-Minia in the district of Bethlehem, was murdered in cold blood by PA police in civilian clothes.
On 23 February 2013, another Palestinian prisoner, Ayman Mohammad Sharif Samara, 40, was arrested by the PA police and “died” on 1 March 2013, at the Jericho Prison in the occupied West Bank.
On April 15 of last year 2012, the Palestinian police and security forces executed in cold blood the Palestinian youth Amthal Ghannam al-Ghwadre in the village of Bir al-Basha.

The murder of Mr. Mahameed and other Palestinians goes to the account of the EU COPPS. The European police unit COPPS has been stationed since years in Ramallah and trains the Palestinian Police in the suppression of the Palestinian civilian society and of any citizen who would express views against the occupation.

The EU COPPS is garrisoned in Ramallah and works in occupied Palestine according to supplemental political protocols imposed on the Palestinian people. Their presence has resulted in a great increase in the brutality of Palestinian police. They are fully responsible for mass arrests, torture, deaths and continued violations of human rights perpetrated by the Palestinian police.

The European COPPS forces train the Palestinian police to do their dirty work which simply can be described as methodical violations of the international humanitarian law, as repressive dictatorship gangs whose tasks are defined simply as suppressing Palestinian opposition to the occupation and to turn Palestine into a bigger Guantanamo.

Zionist Settlements Are Violation Of International Law

30 November 2013 – It has been 66 years since the United Nations General Assembly adopted resolution 181, proposing the partition of the mandate territory into two States. Achieving the two-State solution, to which both Israel and the Palestinians have committed, is long overdue but still the Zionist Israel occupation in Palestine.

The United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon warned on Friday Nov. 29 2013, of “increasingly dangerous” tensions between Israel and the Palestinians which could threaten peace talks. His message was delivered by Ms Mazlan Othman at the UN office in Vienna on the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People

Ki-moon said: “settlement activity in the Occupied PalestinianTerritory continues, and remains a cause for very grave concern. Announcements of thousands of new housing units cannot be reconciled with the goal of a two-state solution and risk the collapse of negotiations. Settlements are in violation of international law and constitute obstacles to peace. All settlement activity in the West Bank and East Jerusalem must cease. Measures that prejudge final status issues will not be recognized by the international community.

The Secretary-General Ki-moon, sharply criticized the demolitions of the Palestinian house in the occupied West Bank, he said: “Palestinians continue to be displaced through house demolitions in Area C of the West Bank and East Jerusalem. Of particular concern are developments in East Jerusalem, where this year alone, some 100 structures have been demolished, displacing 300 people. Hundreds more Palestinians are at risk because their homes were built without Israeli-issued building permits. This underscores the importance of Palestinian access to a fair planning and zoning regime. I remind Israel of its obligation to protect the population under occupation.”

Ki-moon described the situation in Gaza as a source of serious concern. He said: “The situation in Gaza remains a source of serious concern. I reiterate my condemnation of all rocket fire into Israel, as well as of the construction of tunnels into Israel by militants. Following the recent tunnel discovery, Israel suspended the transfer of construction material into Gaza, including for humanitarian projects. While I recognize Israel’s legitimate security concerns, I urge Israel to ensure that the needs of the civilian population in Gaza are met.”

He added: “The UN Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA), a lifeline for millions of Palestinians in Gaza, the West Bank and the region, continues to face serious financial difficulties. I call on all donors, including new ones, to make or increase contributions to sustain UNRWA’s vital and indispensable operations.”

Salahaldin Abd al Shafi, the Palestinian ambassador to Austria read President Abbas message on the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People. He calls for a Palestinian state along pre-67 lines with East Jerusalem as the Palestinian capital. Full text of his message is below.

Peace Now: Israel Okays 829 New Squatter Houses

JERUSALEM – AFP – Israeli authorities have given the go-ahead for the construction of 829 new squatter houses in the occupied West Bank, settlement watchdog Peace Now said on Monday. “The construction of 829 homes has been approved by a committee of the Israeli military in charge of the West Bank,” said Lior Amihai, a Peace Now official.

“This is yet another move that threatens to derail the peace process,” Amihai told AFP.

President Mahmoud Abbas has warned that ongoing settlement building by Israel in the occupied Palestinian territories threatens the future of the Middle East peace process. The new homes would be built north of Jerusalem in the settlements of Givat Zeev, Nofei Prat, Shilo, Givat Salit and Nokdim, Amihai said.

The latest move comes two weeks after Israel announced its largest plan for settler homes ever, saying some 20,000 would be built in the West Bank.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu cancelled the order after pressure from the United States, which brought the two sides to the table in July and as the Israeli premier sought to dissuade Washington from striking a nuclear deal with Iran.

That announcement had prompted the entire Palestinian negotiating team to resign in protest — resignations which Abbas has yet to accept.

Abbas told AFP last week his side is committed to the full period of talks agreed with Washington that will end in around April.

But if the talks end with no deal, the Palestinians have said they will pursue legal action against Israel’s illegal building through international courts.

Commentators say the Palestinians will not back out of talks before their end date, as this would signal implicit responsibility for their failure.

Global Campaign to End Violence Against Women Journalists

The International Federation of Journalists (IFJ) launched a global campaign to denounce violence against women journalists and alert public authorities on their need to to end impunity for these crimes. This campaign is a response to the numerous cases of women journalists being threatened, attacked, harassed, raped or even killed in the course of their profession.

“Tragically, women journalists are under bigger threat than their male colleagues when it comes to attacks, bullying, threats, cyber-bullying, rape and abuse; all effective tools to silence women’s voices in the media. As we encourage more and more women into the profession, their safety must be paramount,” said IFJ Gender Council co-chair Mindy Ran.

According to the IFJ, six women journalists were killed this year in the course of their profession. Rebecca Davidson, a New Zealand national, deputy head of programming at the Dubai-based Arabian Radio Network was killed on 8 February in a boat collision while on assignment in the Seychelles. Journalist Rahmo Abdulkadir working for Radio Abudwaq was shot in Towfiq district in north Mogadishu, Somalia capital, when she was close to her house. Baiu Lu, from the Urumqi Evening News died on 18 April, in an accident while conducting interviews on a construction site in Urumqi, capital of Northwest China. Habiba Ahmet Abd Elaziz from UAE-based Xpress newspaper was killed on 14 August together with four other journalists in Egypt. Yarra Abbas, television correspondent for Al-Ikhbariyah TVwas killed on 27 May, while covering clashes near the border with Lebanon. French reporter Ghislaine Dupont, who worked for Radio France International (RFI) was abducted and shot dead on 2nd November together with her male colleague Claude Verlon in the Malian northern city of Kidal.

“A one day protest on 25 November is not enough to fight against attacks against our female colleagues,” said Zuliana Lainez, member of the IFJ Gender Council and the IFJ Executive Committee. “We are launching a Working Party to ensure that constant attention is paid to the safety of our colleagues throughout the world and regular alerts and protests are launched to denounce these crimes. Part of the activities include a twitter action to mark 25 November International Day for the elimination of violence against women,” says Lainez who will lead the Working Party.

“We urge media organisations to do their best to fight violence against female media workers,” says Mounia Belafia, IFJ Gender Council co-chair. “Respect for gender equality is an important step for this and media must be made accountable for mainstreaming gender in all their activities.”

The IFJ encourages journalists, their unions and supporters to express their concerns over violence against women journalists and demand an end to impunity for these crimes
